Rimmed Vase

Made by Cosi Tabellini in Brescia. The Rimmed Vase is built on a simple, full-bodied silhouette — a shape with real volume, closer in spirit to an urn than a bud vase, and a useful anchor for a considered arrangement.

Unlike most Cosi Tabellini pieces, which are cast, this one is spun — a disc of pewter rotated at high speed and shaped by hand into a single symmetrical form, with the base spun separately and soldered on. It's a process that requires real skill, and it leaves the kind of quiet, continuous finish that casting can't quite match.
