Serax

A Belgian design house based in Kontich, founded in 1986 by brothers Serge and Axel Van Den Bossche, and led by Axel today. The company began in the floral trade — their mother had run a small business selling flowerpots — and grew from there into tableware, glassware, furniture, and lighting. It is a path we recognise: flowers first, then the things around them.

Rather than a single aesthetic, Serax works as a platform. Designers are invited to bring their own sensibility, with Serax handling the craftsmanship and production to realise each collection without compromise. The collections hold together not through style but through values: real material care, small production runs, and craftspeople given the space to work properly.

We chose Serax with a florist’s eye. Not everything in a home should be classic; a room needs a few pieces with personality — a carafe with a sense of humour, a cup that turns out to be perfect for soju. Something a little different, sitting comfortably among the quiet things.

Still Life keeps a small selection of Serax — vessels, cups, a carafe — drawn from the collections we return to most.
